Trust before transaction

Culture, etiquette & professional relationships

Respect, composure, privacy, and relationship-building are central to social and business interaction in Oman.

At a first meeting, a proper greeting and introduction, correct use of titles, neat attire, and time for initial conversation all matter. Omani coffee and dates are part of hospitality, and accepting them respectfully sends a positive signal.

During Ramadan, be sensitive to eating, drinking, and altered working patterns in public. Ask permission before photographing people, homes, private spaces, or sensitive locations; avoid confrontational political and religious discussion; and allow enough time and trust for important decisions.
