Governorates & key cities
Oman has 11 governorates, each with distinct economic roles, climate, access, and market behaviour.
Oman’s governorates are Muscat, Dhofar, Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dakhiliyah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, Al Dhahirah, and Al Wusta. Each contains several wilayats, and location should follow customers, supply chains, and project requirements.
Muscat is the administrative and commercial centre; Sohar a port and industrial hub; Salalah a southern gateway for Khareef tourism and logistics; Duqm a major industrial and port development; and Nizwa an important centre for Al Dakhiliyah, tourism, and agriculture. Sur, Buraimi, Khasab, and Ibri also have strong regional roles depending on the sector.
