Population & expatriate communities

Oman’s registered population at the end of May 2026 was about 5.39 million: roughly 56.8% Omanis and 43.2% expatriates.

According to Oman’s National Centre for Statistics and Information, the registered population at the end of May 2026 was 5,388,513: 3,059,421 Omani citizens and 2,329,092 expatriates. These figures change continuously, so investment decisions should use the latest official release.

The expatriate population is not one uniform segment. Nationality, language, income, location, occupation, and length of stay all affect purchasing behaviour. Concentration in Muscat, Al Batinah, and industrial centres also means the national population is not the same as the reachable market for a product.

The figures on this page are based on NCSI’s June 2026 monthly bulletin, reporting end-May 2026 data.
